Duffner and Kimberly Thistle Lamp
The Duffner and Kimberly Thistle Lamp is a handsome and collectible design produced by the Duffner & Kimberly Company of New York (est. 1905). The leaded glass shade features a naturalistic thistle motif, the spiky, sculptural thistle blossoms and their distinctive leaves rendered in richly colored art glass with intricate leading work. The organic, flowing design reflects the Art Nouveau sensibility that defined the firm's finest work.
Duffner & Kimberly were among the premier leaded glass lamp makers of the early 20th century, with co-founder Kimberly having trained at Tiffany Studios in the 1890s. Their brief production period (1906–1911) makes their work scarce and highly valued by collectors.
When illuminated, the shade produces a warm, colorful glow as light passes through the carefully selected glass pieces, highlighting the naturalistic beauty of the thistle design.
A collectible and attractive example from one of the most respected names in American art glass lighting.
