Tiffany Studios Favrile Glass Candle Lamp

A complete Tiffany Studios Favrile glass candle lamp in three pieces, twisted base, pulled-feather candle cup, and shade, with the original un-burned wick still in place.

The base is a twisted, swirling candlestick form in gold iridescent glass that shifts to blue and purple tones at the foot. The spiraling body rises to support a separate candle cup adorned with pulled green feather decoration against white glass. Inside the cup, the original spring mechanism remains intact, designed to elevate the candle as it burns down so the flame stays at a consistent height beneath the shade.

The shade is a single piece of blown gold iridescent Favrile glass with a beautifully scalloped rim and distinctive "Ruffled" texture that catches and diffuses candlelight into a warm, ambient glow. Faint rings of color shift to reddish-purple tones depending on the angle of light.

The fact that this lamp survives complete, all three pieces present, matched, and with an un-burned wick, is remarkable. It remains exactly as it left the Tiffany Furnaces, never lit. Entirely hand blown without any metal framework, candle lamps represent the glassblower's art at its purest.
