Tiffany Studios Swirling Leaf

Tiffany Studios 18" Swirling Leaf shade on a Grueby Pottery base.

The dome shaped shade features a geometric grid of rippled amber and golden glass across the upper and lower fields, divided by a decorative band of swirling scrollwork leaves that wraps around the middle of the shade. The rippled glass is on the interior, adding depth and movement to the warm golden glow when illuminated. The shade rests on a Grueby Pottery base a, bulbous vase form in Grueby's signature matte green glaze with raised vertical leaf forms around the body. Tiffany Studios and Grueby Faience enjoyed a close working relationship beginning around 1904, with Grueby eventually granting Tiffany exclusive control of their pottery for the New York market. Overall height is approximately 22 inches.
