Tiffany Studios Tulip Cluster Lamp

An exceptional early Tiffany Studios Tulip Cluster lamp, often referred to as the Crocus, on an important decorated blown Favrile glass base, circa 1900. The Tulip Cluster belongs to the earliest generation of Tiffany floral shades and was later cataloged as the 16-inch model #1454. Its formal arrangement of pendant blossoms is paired here with a rounded body of whitish-yellow Favrile glass encased in elaborate bronze openwork. A distinctive two-tone patina of warm golden-brown highlights and deeper brown passages emphasizes the relief and sculptural quality of the metalwork. The shade is supported on gracefully curved bronze arms rising from the base.
